I really like this kid and his bro, Kylen.
They surf really good. Good airs, good style, a GREAT attitude, and BRAINS.
They are fortunate to go to Iolani and Punahou and take advantage of it.
These are the kinds of kids that I like to help out.

Batz rips man!
He did well at Nijima but the guy sat on him and stopped his chances of getting in the final. A contest is a contest though. You go for blood and we would’ve done the exact same thing.
People don’t realize, Batz has a 4th and a 5th…
Man, those are pretty good points. He’s in 5th and I’m in 3rd.
We’re all looking to make a statement at Oarai.
That’s why we go there 4 days before the event to practice!!!

Nijima Ramen = Mean!

We all ate some ramen yesterday. It was the best dinner we’ve eated since we’ve got to Nijima. We’ve ate Izakaya, Yakkinikku, and ramen. Ramen was the best and reasonable. Good stuff. Probably go there again tonight. Hehe..
Everyone in Nijima are HUGE fans of surfing. They know everyone very well. The ramen boys had all the pro surfers who come through to sign the poster. Even my Dad signed it! Can you figure out who’s signed this board? The top WCT guys signed it too!

We’ve had a loooooooong 3 days. Cruising on the beach ALL DAY in the 200 degree weather with 500% humidity. Batz got a 5th and I got a 7th. In the long run it isn’t a very good result, but knowing how close I was to squeezing it out of my heat before this one… I’m fine with it.
I still stand 3rd, but these last 2 contests are VERY important. Luckily, I’ve got my 2 coaches/travel partners Kekoa and Batz with me. Plus, my wife is coming for the next one to support. That’ll be huge! I can’t wait. I started this year knowing I need to make 13 heats to win the tour. So far, I’ve made only 8. I’ve got 5 more heats to make, but you need to take it one heat at a time, and one wave at a time…
Gonna pull it together for the last 2. Game On!
Izuki won the event. It was the most exciting heat of the comp. He needed an 8.25 and Nobu Osawa was winning the ENTIRE heat… Then, Izuki got the BOMB of the day and unloaded. Didn’t hold back. Result: 9.5 and the win!
We watched the UH and USC game online. Man, UH has a good team this year!
It’s going to fun going to the games…

We’ve just been so busy.
Look closely at this Round 3 Heat that I had. It was against my Murasaki Sports teammates Kaito and Tomo san. And my boy, Dazza. I tied with Tomo and it went to a countback to top scoring wave that I barely got. And I barely squeaked past Dazza by 0.1. Pretty heavy. And Kaito, Darren, Tomo, and I got a wave at the last 2 minutes of the heat! We shuffled around and I lucked out getting 2nd! Super stoked!
